Description
WaterSHED Ventures is looking for a creative individual or company that can transform our new toilet shelter prototype. We are looking for someone to design the interior walls and turn our simple gray structure into a delightful experience.
About the project:
We have designed the first pre-fabricated, lightweight household toilet structure for sale in rural Cambodia. It will be the first shelter in the region to be flat-packed upon delivery and ready-to-install without the need for any special tools. The structure was designed to be mass-manufactured and will be sold across Cambodia. This solution marks a significant departure from the overwhelming majority of shelters in the world, which are made of bricks and concrete.
Our shelter specs:
- Floor area: 1.8 m x 1.8 m
- Wall area: 1.8 m wide x 2 m tall
- Wall materials: panels of cement particle board and exposed steel frame inside
What we need:
We are looking for a creative person to design the interior walls of the toilet shelter using low-cost materials that can withstand transport along bumpy rural roads and wet bathroom conditions (people will be bathing and washing their laundry, in addition to using the toilet). The final design will appeal to consumers in rural Cambodia and will be able to be easily replicated in manufacturing. The key challenge is keeping the total cost of the materials under USD 30.
NOTE: The USD 30 constraint applies to the materials only. Tooling costs (that is, upfront costs to create tools that can be used repeatedly to apply your design) are separate and not included in the material constraint.
